“algún día me separaré de mis amigas” is the third full-length solo album by Chilean composer and producer anthï. Its title translates as “someday i’ll part from my friends,” taken from the anime series Hibike! Euphonium. The album is a collage of identities crossed by slice-of-life anime references, sampled voice messages, dembow rhythms, string arrangements, and Chilean-rooted sonic sensibilities. In these songs, the lullaby-like vocal melodies and playful, pastel-colored soundscapes, contrast with anthï’s lyrical reflections on subjects such as trauma, failed connections, isolation and gender identity.
